Yahoo | Degree Bracket Gap Challenge: “Degrees of Equity”

Producer: Blair Reynor
Design: Chloe Bartlett
Art Director: Isaac Versaw

In partnership with Yahoo and Degree Bracket Gap Challenge, we created "Degrees of Equity" a video diary series and custom article that shed a light on the many inequities in collage women’s basketball. It’s essential to celebrate women's sports and recognize the incredible achievements of female athletes. With this campaign, we aimed to do just that!

The campaign featured four women who had major careers in college women’s basketball they shared their personal experience with equity in the field and how it impacted them. With all women sharing insights including advocating for safer spaces and fighting for equality on and off the court!

The fight

The article showcased a custom video and story series featuring four women in the field. The design is influenced by Tips and Tricks while taking a more serious approach due to the topic.

Equity is… what exactly?

Well, that depends on who you're asking. We posed that same question to four athletes and they had a wide range of responses. Each diary video explores what equity means and how the definition/experience of it is forever changing.

Sophie Cunningham is anything but timid.

“She’s known for playing hard on the court and is as passionate for the game as she is for equity in basketball. “If you put women in a box, we’re going to break it every single time,” she says.”

Social Promotion

We wanted to lead with strategy that centered these women. Creating engaging assets including story quote cards, photo assets, and behind the scenes content. Content that would appeal to their audiences and new alike. With social alone generating over 70k clicks.
